The Catalyst
During the 2007 housing crisis, Alex Filipuk watched a skilled friend lose half his income overnight — not because demand dried up, but because the industry had no system to protect the people doing the actual work. Homeowners were overpaying for inconsistent results, while the craftsmen behind those results were treated as disposable. That gap became his motivation to build something better.

The Blueprint
After a decade spent close to the industry — observing the same inefficiencies repeat across every project and every market — Alex began engineering a different kind of business. He wanted to replace the standard handshake-contracting approach with a data-driven system — one that offered transparent pricing, professional project management, and stable, fair pay for the people swinging the tools.

Starting in Vancouver
Ideal Siding launched in Vancouver, BC. From the start, Alex moved beyond the traditional contractor role by introducing a 25-year workmanship warranty — at the time, no competitor offered anything close. That commitment to long-term accountability immediately set the company apart.

Crossing the Border
With multiple locations across Canada in under three years, Alex led the company’s expansion into the United States. Local business owners could now tap into a proven operational system and a support network built for scale — turning Ideal Siding into a North American franchise leader.

Investing in People
Alex launched the Siding Academy, a proprietary training program designed to certify installers and hold every crew to the same national standard. Now, regardless of city, every Ideal Siding installation is backed by people trained and certified the same way.

A New Scale of Operations
Ideal Siding has grown to over 100 locations. The recently launched National Commercial Division extends the network beyond residential homes into large-scale multi-family and commercial developments. What began with one friend’s story has become a system built to make sure that never happens to anyone in the trade again.
